Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Street Light Operative in Sittingbourne for an immediate start on a street lighting maintenance and installation contract.

Work involves installing and maintaining street lighting, diagnosing faults and performing basic repairs, and operating MEWP equipment. The role is long-term with weekly CIS/pay options and an expected schedule Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Qualifications

• HERS Card / ECS Card essential.
• Valid IPAF Ticket required (1b or 3b).
• G39 Certificate (Working safely near electricity supply networks) preferred.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or equivalent qualifications are a strong advantage.
• Full UK Driving Licence (C1 / HGV Category C is a plus).
• Full PPE (steel toe boots, high-vis, hard hat, gloves) required.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Installing, replacing, and maintaining street lighting columns, lanterns, and LED units.
• Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out basic repairs on highway electrical infrastructure.
• Operating MEWPs/bucket trucks for high-level works safely.
• Laying, terminating, and jointing underground cables connected to feeder pillars.
• Adhering to Chapter 8 traffic management rules and site safety protocols.

Pay Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour (dependent on qualifications and pay type)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Street Light Operative for an immediate start tomorrow morning on a street lighting maintenance and installation contract in Sittingbourne.

This is a great opportunity to secure steady, long-term work with an established highway services contractor operating across Kent.

Key Responsibilities

• Installing, replacing, and maintaining street lighting columns, lanterns, and LED units.

• Operating mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs / bucket trucks) to perform high-level works safely.
• Laying, terminating, and jointing underground cables connected to feeder pillars.
• Adhering strictly to Chapter 8 traffic management rules and site safety protocols.
