Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Street Cleansing Driver/Operative to join the team at Stores Road Depot. The role involves driving crew cab vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and performing routine street cleansing tasks to keep Derby streets clean and safe.

You will walk up to 8 miles daily, work in all weather, and follow guidance from the chargehand while occasionally working independently. A strong emphasis on safety and PPE is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK driving licence.
• Able to walk long distances (up to 8 miles daily).
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures and PPE.
• Team player able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Drive a crew cab vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes.
• Carry out routine street cleansing tasks.
• Walk long distances (up to 8 miles daily).
• Work in all-weather conditions throughout the year.
• Litter picking, bin emptying, sweeping, weeding, removing dog fouling and fly-tipping.
