Job summary

The Welsh National Opera in Cardiff seeks a Trusts Manager to join the Development team. You will develop and execute a strategy to maximise income from trusts and foundations, aligned with WNO's fundraising goals, driving growth across England and Wales.

Reporting to the Director of Development, you will manage a portfolio of funders, lead on major trusts, collaborate with colleagues, and prepare compelling applications and reports, demonstrating strong presentation and writing skills.

Qualifications

• Experience of securing Trusts and Foundations grants; minimum 5-figure level.
• Experience of line management, or equivalent supervision responsibilities.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills with multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience of handling budgets.
• Team player with ability to work on own initiative.
• Experience of prospect research and funder portfolio management.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours and attend events on tour.
• Commitment to WNO's values.
• Experience using a CRM database, preferably Tessitura.
• Strong understanding of GDPR.
• Interest in the arts.
• Ability to write and speak Welsh.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategy to maximise income from trusts and foundations.
• Achieve annual income targets in line with the Strategy, in England and Wales.
• Manage a portfolio of trusts, cultivate relationships, report progress and submit applications.
• Work independently to drive income targets, with support from the Director of Development.
• Collaborate with Data Analyst for prospect research and deadline-driven applications.
• Build external relationships with major Trusts and engage internal stakeholders.
• Create strong grant applications and progress reporting, using outstanding written and verbal skills.
