Job summary

UKAEA is seeking a Technical Communications Specialist for an 18 month fixed‑term contract to lead integrated communications that support strategic priorities. You will simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences and advise senior leaders to protect and enhance the organisation's reputation.

The role requires onsite presence (3–5 days a week) with flexible working options where compatible. A strong background in strategic communications and campaign delivery is essential.

Qualifications

• A degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject.
• Extensive experience of delivering high‑quality communications or campaigns.
• Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating communications strategies.
• Experience of providing strategic communications advice to senior stakeholders.
• Experience of managing communications across internal and external channels.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and evaluate integrated communications strategies aligned with objectives.
• Translate complex technical information into clear, accessible messages.
• Lead high‑impact campaigns across internal and external channels.
• Act as the communications lead for priority programmes and initiatives.
• Manage campaigns from planning through to delivery, including media materials and digital content.
• Advise senior stakeholders on approaches, audience engagement and reputational risk.
• Coordinate activity across internal teams, external stakeholders and media.
• Oversee written and digital content ensuring accuracy and brand alignment.
• Provide specialist support as part of UKAEA’s Crisis Communications Team.
