Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a Technical Communications Specialist for an 18-month fixed-term contract to lead integrated communications activities supporting strategic priorities. You will translate complex technical information into clear messages for internal and external audiences and advise senior leaders to protect and enhance UKAEA’s reputation.

You will develop, implement and evaluate communications strategies, coordinate activity across teams and media, and oversee all content

Qualifications

  • Degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Extensive experience delivering high-quality communications or campaigns.
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating communications strategies and providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing communications across internal and external channels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate integrated communications strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Translate complex technical and programme information into clear and accessible communications.
  • Lead high-impact campaigns across internal and external channels.
  • Act as the communications lead for priority programmes, divisions and organisational initiatives.
  • Manage communications projects from planning through delivery, including briefings and media materials.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on communications approaches, audience engagement and reputational risk.
  • Coordinate communications activity across internal teams, external stakeholders and the media.
  • Oversee content to ensure accuracy and alignment with UKAEA’s messaging and brand.
  • Manage governance and approvals for sensitive/high-profile communications.
  • Provide specialist Crisis Communications Team support.

About the job

As Communications Technical Specialist, you will lead integrated communications activity supporting UKAEA’s strategic priorities. You will turn complex technical and programme information into clear, accessible messages for internal and external audiences. You will also advise senior leaders and help protect and enhance UKAEA’s reputation.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate integrated communications strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Translate complex technical and programme information into clear and accessible communications.
  • Lead high-impact campaigns across internal and external channels.
  • Act as the communications lead for priority programmes, divisions and organisational initiatives.
  • Manage communications projects from initial planning through to delivery, including briefings, media materials and digital content.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on communications approaches, audience engagement and reputational risk.
  • Coordinate communications activity across internal teams, external stakeholders and the media.
  • Oversee written and digital content, ensuring it is accurate, consistent and aligned with UKAEA’s messaging and brand.
  • Manage governance and approval processes for sensitive or high-profile communications.
  • Provide specialist support as a trained member of UKAEA’s Crisis Communications Team.

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject.

UKAEA is an onsite organisation, and this role requires regular onsite presence (usually between 3-5 days in any given week) in line with business needs. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role
