Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Assistant Supply Chain Manager to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team. You’ll lead defined supply chain workstreams, build strong supplier relationships, and translate project needs into practical sourcing solutions.

Based at one of our UK hubs with a hybrid working model (three days in the office), the role offers visibility across operations, procurement and commercial teams while driving resilience and value for our projects.

Qualifications

• Experience building and managing supplier relationships in a complex, fast-growing environment.
• Interest in learning and progressing within supply chain management.
• Strong communication, proactive problem solving and collaboration.
• Ability to use data to develop actionable strategies and influence decisions.
• Proficient in digital procurement and performance management systems.
• Strong project management skills and experience leading change initiatives.
• MCIPS qualification or working towards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build, manage and deepen strategic supplier relationships to support growth.
• Use data/insights to develop and present sourcing strategies.
• Conduct market analysis and risk assessments for resilient supply chains.
• Develop and implement supply chain strategies for projects or regions.
• Engage suppliers early and explore new market options.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Safety and Sustainability.
• Lead change initiatives and drive delivery of outcomes.
