Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Assistant Supply Chain Manager to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team. Based at one of our UK hubs (Derby, Newcastle, London, Birmingham, Leeds or Warrington), you will lead defined supply chain workstreams and partner with operations, procurement and commercial teams to translate project needs into practical supplier solutions.

This full-time, permanent role offers a hybrid working model with three days in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience building supplier relationships within a complex, fast‑growing environment.
• Ability to translate project needs into supplier solutions.
• Comfortable using data to drive procurement decisions and supplier performance insights.
• Experience with procurement, supplier market analysis and developing market options.
• MCIPS qualification or working towards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build and deepen strategic supplier relationships to support the business’s growth pipeline.
• Use data and insights from the supply chain to develop actionable strategies and inform decisions.
• Conduct market analysis and risk assessments to ensure a resilient and sustainable supply chain.
• Develop supply chain strategies and action plans for projects, programmes, regions or priority work packages.
• Engage suppliers early and develop new market options to improve certainty and value.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Safety, Quality and Sustainability.
