Job summary

Morson Group is seeking a Senior Sub-Contract Buyer to join the EW Sensors (IPT) within the S&PT sector at the Luton site. The role focuses on managing sub-contract commitments, both tangible and intangible, and requires building strong internal and external relationships across a matrix organisation.

Qualifications

• Requires degree level or significant relevant experience; MCIPS preferred.
• Experience in Defence/Aerospace procurement or similar sector.
• Ability to procure intangible services linked to training, software and professional services.
• Relationship building with cross-functional colleagues, customers and suppliers.
• Understanding of commercial and legal contracting within Defence/Aerospace.
• Understanding of export compliance in defence/aerospace contracting.
• Ability to think outside the box to add value and innovation.
• SAP familiarity or equivalent integrated business systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead sub-contract management activities and procurement-related services.
• Develop, implement and execute the Procurement strategy for the EW Sensors area.
• Translate customer/project requirements into commercial documents for design and production of bespoke complex electronic systems.
• Develop and negotiate robust contracts for outsourced services and intangible deliveries.
• Identify and source appropriate supply chains for outsourced intangible services.
• Promote customer intimacy in internal and external relationships.
• Focal point for project and supplier contract matters.
• Drive strategies to influence business decisions throughout the project life cycle.
• Identify solutions for complex risk/opportunity areas (sub-contract risk, currency exposure).
• Draft and prepare complex contract documentation using standard and non-standard formats.
• Review customer contracts to identify appropriate contractual flowdowns.
• Lead the generation and review of specifications and Statements of Work.
• Promote best practice and knowledge sharing within the function and across the business.
• Construct and lead Life Cycle Management deliverables for contracts and supply chain.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand customer requirements and critical success factors.
• Manage Export Compliance, restrictions and third party rights for all procured items and services.
