Job summary

Co-op is seeking a Space Planning and Merchandising Manager in Manchester on a 9-month fixed-term contract. The role leads space planning and merchandising across stores to create a shopper-friendly experience, while aligning with commercial goals.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to motivate others while delivering against business objectives.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple teams.
• Confident in managing complex situations and competing priorities to achieve the right outcome.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness and decision-making.
• Experience in merchandising, category management, range planning or related retail function.
• Ability to simplify complex challenges, remove blockers and drive delivery in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills to present ideas clearly and influence change.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Micro Space Planners and create an inclusive environment.
• Develop and evolve merchandising principles to support customer, commercial and operational priorities.
• Work with stakeholders to build alignment, manage priorities and deliver outcomes.
• Identify and remove barriers to progress and help teams move work forward.
• Drive continuous improvement in space planning and merchandising capabilities.
• Ensure multi-channel planograms are delivered accurately, on time and to quality standards.
• Partner with business leaders to balance merchandising principles with range, promotions and operations.
