Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a Service Manager for Aldine House Secure Children’s Home, Dore, Sheffield 17. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to a specialist service for children and young people with complex needs, focusing on occupancy growth and safeguarding.

As Registered Service Manager you will lead across care, education, health and psychology to deliver integrated services, manage performance, risk and finance, and represent the service with regulators,

Qualifications

• Substantial leadership and management experience in children’s residential care or secure provision.
• Experience leading service improvement and organisational change while maintaining safe services.
• Strong understanding of therapeutic, trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
• Strong partnership and influencing skills.
• Visible, compassionate and accountable leadership.
• Commitment to children’s rights, equality, diversity, inclusion and anti-discriminatory practice.

Responsibilities

• Establish a clear vision and strategic plan for Aldine House.
• Provide senior leadership and oversight of performance, safeguarding, workforce, occupancy and finance.
• Work with leadership while maintaining regulatory and operational accountability.
• Strengthen the therapeutic, trauma-informed culture across the service.
• Ensure care, education, health and psychology operate as one integrated team.
• Lead a sustainable plan to increase appropriate occupancy.
• Improve referral, assessment, matching and admissions arrangements.
• Ensure timely, well evidenced placement decisions centred on safety and needs.
• Align workforce capacity with children’s needs and occupancy plans.
• Maintain oversight of quality assurance, inspection readiness and improvement planning.
• Use performance and financial data to identify risks and inform decisions.
• Represent Aldine House with senior leaders, regulators and partners.
