Job summary

Alderwing Care is recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead a new children’s residential home in Sheffield. You will drive culture, recruitment and safeguarding, ensuring a safe, high-quality, child-centred service.

The role requires substantial experience in children’s residential care, staff supervision, safeguarding knowledge and Ofsted readiness. Salary £47,000–£55,000 with up to £5,000 bonus and 32 days leave.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in children's residential care and safeguarding.
• Experience supervising staff in a residential childcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and applicable regulations.
• Proven ability to satisfy Ofsted requirements for Registered Manager.
• Qualified in RCC/Level 5 leadership or equivalent; willingness to complete within regulatory timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Lead the home in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards.
• Oversee safe, effective, child-centred operation of the home.
• Shape culture, systems and practice from the outset.
• Recruit, induct, supervise, develop and manage staff.
• Promote safeguarding and respond to concerns promptly.
• Ensure individualised care plans, risk management and quality assurance.
• Develop relationships with families, social workers and authorities.
• Prepare for Ofsted inspection and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with RI and provider on service development and improvement.
• Contribute to placement decisions with child welfare as priority.
