Job summary

Alderwing Care in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a new children's residential home from the ground up. You will shape culture, recruitment, safeguarding, and care practices with autonomy and provider support.

You will oversee staff development, safeguarding, and continuous service improvement, ensuring a child-centred, safe environment and strong relationships with professionals and families.

Qualifications

• Significant experience working within children's residential care.
• Experience managing or supervising staff within a residential childcare setting.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge: Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Experience satisfying Ofsted requirements for a Registered Manager.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to develop staff through supervision, coaching and performance management.
• Confidence working with Ofsted, local authorities, social workers and professionals.
• Commitment to a stable, nurturing, child-centred home.

Responsibilities

• Lead the home in accordance with regulatory standards and Ofsted requirements.
• Ensure safe, effective and child-centred operation of the home.
• Shape culture, systems and practice from the outset.
• Recruit, supervise, develop and appraise staff.
• Promote safeguarding culture and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Provide individualised care reflecting children’s needs and plans.
• Maintain care planning, risk management, recording and QA systems.
• Build relationships with children, families, social workers and authorities.
• Prepare for Ofsted inspections and meet regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with RI and provider on monitoring and service development.
• Contribute to placement matching with child welfare front and centre.
• Build a stable, motivated team and supportive working environment.
