Job summary

Heath Primary School is seeking a dedicated SEND Lead (SENDCo) to strengthen our SEND provision and shape development across the school. This role blends strategic leadership with close collaboration with staff, pupils and families to ensure every child gets the support they need to succeed.

The post offers opportunities to lead systems and, as the provision embeds, to work directly with pupils. The successful candidate will uphold safeguarding and DBS checks and may work towards NASENCo

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practice.
• Ability to lead and support others effectively.
• Commitment to developing high-quality provision for all learners.
• Hold or be willing to work towards the NASENCo qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of clear and effective systems, ensuring a strong graduated response and high‑quality, consistent provision across the school.
• Work alongside colleagues to build confidence in inclusive practice, so that all staff feel supported to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
• Collaborate with the SEND Unit Lead, class teachers and the wider staff team to create a culture where every child is valued, supported and able to achieve their potential.
• Initially focus on leadership and systems (non‑teaching), with opportunities to work directly with pupils as provision becomes further embedded.
• Shape SEND provision at a strategic level and make a meaningful difference to the lives of our pupils.
