Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Strategic Manager SEND Casework to lead a team and drive system-wide reform for children and young people with SEND in County Durham. You will shift practice toward partnership-led approaches, promote inclusion, and ensure high standards.

You will influence across schools, trusts and partner agencies, oversee complex casework, contribute to strategic planning and ensure value for money and sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Senior management experience in a school or Children’s Services within a local authority.
• Experience working with schools to promote inclusion and attainment.
• Experience of managing complex change and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of SEND managers to embed high standards and consistent decision-making.
• Influence practice across schools, trusts and partner agencies to reduce reliance on EHCPs.
• Oversee complex casework and contribute to strategic planning and sufficiency.
• Ensure resources deliver value for money and sustainable outcomes.
