Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a School Improvement Advisor to lead on learning and achievement across Herefordshire. You will provide strategic direction for governance, challenge schools to improve, and ensure statutory duties on school performance are met.

The role requires leadership in school improvement, safeguarding, and collaboration with local authority partners to raise outcomes for children and young people.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with experience delivering and coordinating school improvement activities in a school or local authority in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading improvements and supporting more than one school.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to strengthen governance of schools in the county.
• Provide challenge to all schools to develop a self-improving system in the county.
• Ensure statutory responsibilities concerning the performance of all schools/settings Herefordshire are met.
• Monitor, support and provide challenge to LA maintained schools where a need is identified.
• Provide a traded service for school improvement within the county.
• Ensure oversight and quality assurance of standards in alternative provision and specialist settings.
• Ensure all children and young people are in full-time education under section 19 of the Education Act.
