Nationwide in the UK is recruiting a Risk & Control Specialist for Business Banking to help embed a robust control environment across senior stakeholder groups. You’ll shape risk profiles, partner with leaders, and drive meaningful change in first-line risk management.

Based in Glasgow, London or Northampton with hybrid working, you’ll log and manage issues, translate risk policies into actionable controls, and champion a culture of proactive risk awareness across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience with Business Banking products and services.
• Solid understanding of risk and control environments within a complex business.
• Ability to design, implement, and monitor effective control frameworks.
• Excellent commercial acumen — you’ll understand how risk management adds value, not friction.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge senior leaders constructively.
• Knowledge of regulatory and business practices for Commercial products.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior business leaders and embed a strong control environment.
• Maintain the Business Banking risk and control profile and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify, log, and manage issues and events; monitor and report to Senior Leadership Team.
• Ensure robust validation and evidence for closure of issues and providing appropriate challenge to standards.
• Translate policies and risk appetite into operational action; engage stakeholders professionally.
