Job summary

Stevens & Bolton LLP is seeking a senior lawyer to support the Head of Risk and Compliance in promoting and maintaining the highest standards of legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance across the firm.

You will act as a senior adviser on a broad range of risk and compliance matters, delivering prompt and pragmatic advice to lawyers and senior stakeholders, supervising and developing junior team members, and leading risk and compliance projects across the firm.

Qualifications

At least 3 years’ PQE in risk and compliance or private practice.
Strong knowledge of data protection law and practice.
Understanding of regulation, professional standards and compliance in a law firm.
Experience with AML and conflicts of interest regulatory requirements.
Experience developing and implementing best practice standards and procedures.
Experience supervising junior colleagues is desirable.
Interest in using technology and AI to support legal practice.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic advice on a range of risk and compliance queries (AML, conflicts, data protection, supplier risk, professional conduct).
Advise on data protection matters, DPIAs, legitimate interests assessments and data breach responses.
Perform due diligence and contract reviews on prospective suppliers.
Advise on client engagement letters, terms of business and client policies.
Identify emerging regulatory risk issues, including AI, and communicate with stakeholders.
Build relationships with partners and lawyers to address risk across client matters and practice areas.
Contribute to the risk and compliance file audit programme and ensure corrective actions.
Draft and implement new policies; update existing ones.
Design and deliver risk and compliance training; contribute to internal training programmes.
Lead risk projects and advise senior management on risk and compliance issues.
