Taylor Root is representing a leading international law firm seeking a Senior Risk Lawyer to join its Risk & Compliance team. The role offers broad advisory exposure across regulatory, professional conduct, and compliance matters globally.

Reporting into senior risk leadership, you will advise on ethics, AML, sanctions, conflicts, data protection, and client terms, partnering with lawyers and business services to drive pragmatic risk guidance and policy development.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with England & Wales status.
• 6–10 years’ PQE.
• Experience in risk & compliance within an international law firm.
• Knowledge of AML, sanctions, conflicts, confidentiality, privilege, and data protection.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to provide pragmatic, commercial risk advice.
• Experience delivering training and working with senior stakeholders.
• High levels of discretion, professionalism and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of risk and compliance matters, including professional conduct, regulatory compliance, conflicts, AML and sanctions, data protection, and contractual terms.
• Partner with legal and business services teams to provide practical risk advice.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.
• Draft, review and update policies, procedures and guidance reflecting regulatory changes.
• Support implementation of risk management initiatives across the organisation.
• Maintain compliance registers and monitoring frameworks.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to colleagues.

Senior Risk Lawyer

A leading international law firm is seeking a Senior Risk Lawyer to join its established Risk & Compliance team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced legal risk professional to take on a broad advisory role with exposure to complex regulatory, compliance, and professional conduct matters across a global business.

The Opportunity

Reporting into senior Risk & Compliance leadership, you will play a key role in advising the firm on a wide range of legal risk and regulatory issues. Working closely with lawyers, business services teams, and senior stakeholders, you will help ensure the firm maintains the highest standards of professional and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

This role offers significant variety, combining advisory work, policy development, regulatory monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and strategic risk management. It is ideally suited to a qualified lawyer with law firm risk experience who enjoys providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of risk and compliance matters, including:

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Qualified Lawyer status (England & Wales preferred).
• Approximately 6-10 years’ PQE.
• Previous experience within the Risk & Compliance function of an international law firm.
• Strong knowledge of professional conduct requirements, legal ethics, and regulatory obligations within the legal sector.
• Experience advising on AML, sanctions, conflicts, confidentiality, privilege, and data protection matters.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice while balancing commercial and regulatory considerations.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
• High levels of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Experience delivering training and working with senior stakeholders.
• Experience handling complaints and professional indemnity matters would be advantageous.
