Job summary

SGN is seeking an Emergency Planning & Resilience Manager to join a small team across Horley and the SGN network. You will lead preparedness efforts, develop incident-ready plans, and advise Executives during planning and response to incidents.

The role focuses on training, exercising and embedding a resilience mindset, with collaboration across Gas Control, Cyber Security and Business Continuity. Travel to SGN sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in emergency planning, resilience or business continuity.
• Experience within a Category 1 or Category 2 responder agency OR extensive Operational Gas experience.
• Resilience-related qualifications and certifications would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Civil Contingencies Act 2004, JESIP principles and other legislation (COMAH, MAHP).
• Experience engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders to drive outputs.
• Tenacious attitude with excellent communication and strong leadership skills.
• Experience in training, testing and exercising (planning and delivery).
• Ability to drive organisational learning and embedding of improvements.
• SC Clearance or ability to achieve this.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to Executives and Senior Leaders during planning and response activities.
• Work as part of a small team to ensure availability of expert, specialist and authoritative advice on all aspects of emergency planning and incident response across networks.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive training, testing and exercising programmes for colleagues at all levels to embed a resilience mindset.
• Work collaboratively with internal colleagues including Gas Control, Cyber Security and Business Continuity to stress-test arrangements and implement improvements.
• Ensure relationships and reputation amongst resilience partners and stakeholders are nurtured for joint learning and exercises.
• Spearhead and drive preparedness and continuous improvement by conducting regular reviews and horizon scanning.
• Undertake such other duties appropriate to the character of work, including out-of-hours during incidents or emergencies and on-call arrangements.
