Job summary

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking an ambitious Recycling and Infrastructure Manager to lead the Council's recycling and waste infrastructure. This role oversees the Resource Recovery Facility, Waste Transfer Stations and related sites to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations that support high recycling performance.

You will manage staff, contractors and budgets while driving service improvements, working with regulators and partners to deliver Project Zero and Vale 2030

Qualifications

• Evidence of successful performance management.
• Experience of partnership/collaborative working.
• Experience managing recycling or waste transfer stations, recycling stations or other permitted sites.
• Recycling and Waste Management operational experience.
• Understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory framework.
• Ability to successfully plan/manage strategic service delivery at a senior level.

• Ability to manage change effectively.
• Ability to anticipate future service needs and plan and manage resources effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead operation of the Council's Resource Recovery Facility, Waste Transfer Stations and associated waste treatment sites.
• Ensure operations are safe, efficient and compliant with environmental permits.
• Manage staff, contractors, budgets, projects and commercial activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and value for money across recycling and waste services.
• Collaborate with regulators, contractors, Members and communities to shape future strategy.
