Job summary

Kier in Sheffield is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Building Solutions North team. You will help maximise gross margin by managing contracts and subcontracts from site or office, 3+ days per week.

The role requires communication skills, relevant QS qualifications, and strong organisational ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and use MS Office and bespoke packages.

Qualifications

• Diverse and clear communication skills with multidisciplinary teams, clients and supply chains.
• Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying is desirable.
• Good organisational skills with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Flexible, team player with initiative.
• Experience using IT packages including MS Office and bespoke software.

Responsibilities

• Managing commercial resources to maximise planned gross margin and support budgeted profitability.
• Tendering, evaluating and appointing subcontractors, and placing orders for materials and plant.
• Identifying, evaluating and negotiating variations to contracts with customers and suppliers.
• Measuring and valuing work to support invoicing of customers and payment to suppliers.
• Producing monthly VCRs and End Life Forecasts, and managing cashflows.
