Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Commercial Officer to join the Commercial Services Team. You will provide procurement advice across service areas, support tender documentation, and help secure value for money while ensuring compliance with procurement laws.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Directorate, you’ll work with colleagues across the council to deliver commercial outcomes, support projects, and adapt to evolving priorities while enjoying flexible working and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent, or able to demonstrate relevant procurement and commercial experience.
• Ideally experienced in working within a public sector procurement and supply environment.
• A confident communicator with excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Able to provide practical procurement advice and guidance across a broad range of service areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality procurement advice across diverse service areas, including construction, transport and corporate functions.
• Help develop procurement strategies and tender documentation to secure value for money and ensure compliance with procurement legislation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement activity with Council objectives and deliver positive outcomes.
