Herefordshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Commercial Officer to join our Commercial Services Team. Forming part of the Corporate Services Directorate, the Commercial Services Team is a dynamic, multi-skilled team which provides procurement and contract management support across the Council. Whilst this role sits within the Corporate Services portfolio, workloads are managed flexibly across the team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support a wide range of services and projects, working with colleagues from across the organisation to deliver procurement and commercial outcomes.
As a Commercial Officer, you will provide high-quality, responsive and practical procurement advice and guidance across a diverse range of service areas, including construction, transport and corporate functions. You will support service areas to develop effective procurement strategies and tender documentation that help the Council achieve value for money, realise savings and ensure compliance with relevant procurement legislation. Working closely with stakeholders across the Council, you will help ensure procurement activity supports the Council's objectives and delivers positive outcomes for residents and communities.
Commercial Services is currently undertaking a review of its service structure to ensure it is best placed to support the Council's future priorities. As a result, reporting arrangements and areas of responsibility may evolve over time. Any changes will be managed in consultation with the successful candidate and in line with the Council's policies and procedures.
