Job summary

North Hertfordshire Council is seeking a Development & Conservation Manager to lead development management, enforcement and technical support across the district. This role forms part of a two-co-manager team guiding growth and high-profile planning matters.

You will oversee a skilled team of over 30 officers, provide professional advice to elected members and communities, and shape delivery of the Council’s planning priorities within a supportive management group.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in development management within a local authority or similar environment.
• Eligible for membership of, or member of, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
• Experience managing complex planning applications and balancing priorities.
• Clear professional advice to elected members, senior officers, applicants and communities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development management, planning enforcement, technical support and specialist functions.
• Lead a team of more than 30 officers and mentor staff.
• Provide clear professional advice to elected members, senior officers, applicants and communities.
