Job summary

Major, Lindsey & Africa is seeking an Interim Senior Legal Counsel (Payments & Digital Assets) to support its European regulatory efforts from London. The role involves advising on the design, launch and scaling of innovative payment and digital asset products across multiple jurisdictions, with close collaboration with product, compliance and commercial teams.

The ideal candidate will have 7–12 years' PQE in regulatory law, strong expertise in PSD2 and MiCA, and a track record advising

Qualifications

7–12 years' PQE in regulatory law.
Experience in payments, fintech or financial services.
Strong knowledge of European payments regulation (PSD2) and licensing.
Knowledge of MiCA and digital assets.
Experience advising on cross-border financial products.
Ability to work closely with product and business teams.
Experience in fast-paced, international environments.

Responsibilities

Advise on design, launch and scaling of payment and digital asset products.
Provide regulatory guidance on product structures, payment flows and settlement models.
Support go-to-market initiatives and regulatory readiness programmes.
Lead legal and regulatory analysis across European and international jurisdictions.
Assess licensing, registration and regulatory obligations for payment services and digital assets.
Partner with stakeholders on strategic projects across product, compliance and legal.
Instruct and manage external counsel where required.
Monitor evolving regulatory developments impacting payments and digital assets.
