Job summary

Debenhams Group in Manchester is seeking an experienced Operations & Risk Manager for DebenhamsPay+ Financial Services. The role sits in a central Manchester office and focuses on operational delivery, governance, risk and incident management.

You will lead risk controls, coordinate across teams, monitor KPIs and support business continuity. Strong Excel skills and experience presenting to senior leaders are essential in this fast-changing retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a FCA regulated environment, ideally within consumer credit
• Strong knowledge of collections & arrears management
• Understanding of risk management processes from identification to implementation
• Experience of leading a small team
• Analytical mindset with Excel proficiency
• Experience of presenting to senior leaders

Responsibilities

• Operational management of processes aligned to Pay+ & Financial Services priorities
• Coordinate activity across internal teams and Customer Service to support servicing, complaints handling, collections and incident response
• Support Head of Credit Risk & Operations with clear routines, controls and action plans
• Maintain operational risk processes, risk registers, control actions and risk appetite monitoring
• Identify and escalate incidents, control issues and risks with customer outcomes in mind
• Develop governance evidence, reporting packs and action tracking for oversight and audits
• Support resilience, business continuity and issue resolution with current plans and lessons learned
• Prepare recommendations and escalate where risks are out of tolerance or decisions required
• Coordinate incident triage, impact assessment and post-incident reviews
• Lead root-cause analysis and translate lessons into improvements to controls, processes and MI
• Maintain incident logs and evidence for governance and reporting
• Monitor KPIs, SLAs and costs; generate dashboards; highlight trends and enable informed decisions
• Identify process simplifications and strengthen controls to improve customer and colleague experience
• Provide day-to-day oversight of data, reporting and evidence for governance
