Newcastle University seeks an Operations Manager to operationalise strategy across a school within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture & Engineering. You will oversee front-of-house management, digital and physical infrastructure, procurement, purchasing and delivery management, leading a small team to deliver high-quality services to students and colleagues.

The role is full-time for 12 months, reporting to senior management, with a focus on continuous improvement and cross-unit collaboration

Competenze

• Proven leadership and staff management skills.
• Experience in a similar role within a complex organizational setting.
• Experience in project management.
• Experience in process improvement and the use of digital technology to increase efficiency and service levels.
• Experience of working collaboratively across a number of units/departments in a matrix setting.
• Familiarity with financial processes and procurement.
• Strong numeracy and IT skills, with confidence in data handling.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Evidence of proactive, creative and flexible problem-solving.

Mansioni

• Lead daily transactional and operational activities across a specific school, including purchasing, travel, deliveries, expense processing and finance approvals.
• Provide line management and leadership to the School Operations team.
• Deliver key activities such as Academic Workload Allocation modelling.
• Coordinate with University IT Service (NUIT) for a fit-for-purpose digital experience for students and staff.
• Support infrastructure planning and implementation, including capital projects and space management.
• Lead and deliver School and Faculty projects with resource monitoring for successful completion.
• Support Deputy Head of School Operations and School Executive in strategic plans.
• Act as a change agent to identify service improvements and innovations.
• Deputise for the Deputy Head of School Operations when appropriate.
