Job summary

New Appointments Group is seeking a Material Planner for its Peterborough site in Cambridgeshire. This hybrid role typically requires three days in the office and is an initial six-month assignment to cover leave.

You will support day-to-day materials planning, raise purchase orders, monitor supplier schedules and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time supply for customer demand.

Qualifications

• Experience in materials planning, supply chain, production planning or purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using MRP/ERP systems to manage material requirements, purchase orders and inventory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve planning issues.
• Excellent communication with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in Excel and general IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Review materials planning systems daily to align supply with demand.
• Raise and release purchase orders to ensure product availability.
• Monitor supplier order schedules and maintain planning data.
• Manage PO changes and rescheduling to improve lead times.
• Communicate delivery and planning dates with order management teams.
• Participate in planning meetings to resolve outstanding orders.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams on lead-time information.
• Monitor stock levels, demand trends and planning exceptions.
• Support inventory optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate planning parameters to ensure materials arrive on time.
