Job summary

BD in Plymouth is seeking a Material Controller to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials for Life Science product manufacture. You will manage inventory, coordinate purchasing in SAP, and support production requirements while driving cost and efficiency improvements.

The role collaborates across supply chain, procurement, finance, quality and production, with emphasis on supplier reliability and inventory performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in supply chain, materials planning, inventory control, procurement, or related manufacturing environment.
• Degree, diploma, or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business, Operations Management or related discipline.
• Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret inventory, purchasing and operational data.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving, with focus on accurate results.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory levels for raw materials, ensuring availability to support production plans while maintaining stock parameters.
• Convert MRP outputs into purchase orders and oversee procurement within SAP.
• Track supplier performance and purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and cost adherence.
• Maintain purchasing master data within SAP, including pricing, sourcing information, listings and stocking rules.
• Monitor inventory metrics such as stock levels, turns, value, shortages and safety stock performance.
• Collaborate with planning teams to align future demand with purchasing and supply requirements.
• Support supplier-related activities including supply issues, quality concerns, material changes, and new materials introductions.
• Provide analysis, reporting, budgeting support, and assistance with invoice queries while contributing to cost improvement initiatives and supply chain projects.
