Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced Buyer to join their client’s manufacturing team. You will source engineering, facilities and spare parts, manage requisitions and purchase orders, and drive cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Buyer or in procurement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of engineering, maintenance and factory consumables.
• Understanding of supply chain and procurement processes.
• Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and achieve cost savings.
• Experience delivering continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Knowledge of inventory control and stock management.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Good numerical, analytical and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase requisitions for both ad‑hoc (spot buy) and inventory‑controlled items, ensuring timely action and delivery.
• Source and procure engineering, facilities and manufacturing equipment spare parts and associated services.
• Raise and manage purchase orders through the company's procurement system.
• Monitor supplier performance and expedite orders to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Maintain accurate delivery dates and purchasing records within internal systems.
• Negotiate favourable pricing, lead times and payment terms with suppliers.
• Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, product standardisation and approved alternative products.
• Track and report procurement savings and performance metrics.
• Resolve supplier delivery issues, including non‑conforming goods, returns, credits and replacements.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier queries.
• Produce and maintain procurement reports on a weekly basis.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal maintenance and technical teams.
