Job summary

CRA Consulting is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a high-performing finance function in Wakefield. You will report to the Financial Controller and be responsible for management accounts, balance sheet, and insightful reporting to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a professionally qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting skills, commercial acumen and stakeholder management ability.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience delivering full management accounts and statutory information.
• Experience across statutory accounting, taxation and audit.
• Demonstrable leadership with the ability to motivate colleagues.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in legal or insurance sectors is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Solicitors' Accounts Rules and regulatory requirements.
• Exposure to long-term contract accounting or WIP.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare full monthly management accounts, schedules and wider reporting suite.
• Own balance sheet management including fixed asset register and reconciliations.
• Partner with senior management, providing insightful reporting and analysis.
• Analyze and present financial information to stakeholders at all levels.
• Assist with statutory accounts and group reporting within deadlines.
• Support year-end audit processes with external auditors.
• Assist with corporate tax and government returns.
• Support implementation of new finance systems and technology.
• Assist budgeting, planning and reforecasting, including staff costs and cash flow.
• Ensure intercompany transactions and interest are accurately accounted for.
• Oversee income receipt, distribution and recharge processes.
• Guide operational stakeholders on financial procedures and regulatory rules.
• Review and improve accounting processes for automation and efficiency.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team.
