Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Deputy Head for the Traffic and Technology Division in Birmingham. You will lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams while upholding an inclusive culture and delivering high-impact transport policy initiatives.

The role involves deputising for the Deputy Director, shaping parking regulation, Blue Badge policy, pavement parking solutions, and the National Parking Platform, in a fast-paced, ministerially scrutinised environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex policy, regulatory, or legislative programmes with multi-stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to operate in a high-scrutiny environment with ministers and MPs.
• Proven track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Deputy Director and be part of the leadership team.
• Lead policy areas such as parking regulation and Blue Badge policy.
• Address pavement parking and lead the Blue Badge Scheme.
• Oversee the National Parking Platform and related initiatives.
• Develop and support line management in line with Civil Service standards.
