Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a seasoned Traffic Engineering Lead to drive traffic management, road safety, and TRO initiatives within a Local Authority highways team in Dudley. You will manage a small team, deliver projects on time, and guide senior stakeholders in strategic traffic policy.

The role requires extensive highway/traffic engineering experience, TRO expertise, and proven leadership in budgets and risk management for complex programs. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in traffic or highway engineering.
• Experience in traffic management and road safety.
• Experience with Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
• Proven staff, budget and project management skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and report writing.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Direct traffic management and road safety initiatives.
• Oversee TRO administration.
• Evaluate collision and traffic data to plan work programs.
• Provide expert advice to senior officers and elected officials.
• Oversee budgets, risks, and contractor performance.
• Prepare and deliver technical reports.
• Deputy for Traffic Group Manager when needed.
• Represent Local Authority in regional/technical meetings.
