Job summary

BRE seeks a Lead Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership across structural engineering activities, testing, and assurance services in the Structural Technology team. You will guide project delivery, ensure quality outcomes, and support business growth while maintaining BRE's independence and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Proven capability in leading and managing complex structural engineering activities.
• Strong working knowledge of BS and EN codes and standards and their application.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Structural Technology team to deliver objectives, revenue targets, and growth.
• Provide technical leadership across projects, ensuring testing, assessment, inspection, and consultancy services meet quality standards.
• Drive business development and market growth by identifying opportunities and building client relationships.
• Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, industry bodies, and stakeholders while upholding independence and integrity.
• Represent BRE externally at events and develop strategic partnerships and new opportunities.
• Lead client engagements, understand customer requirements, and prepare high-quality proposals and reports.
• Apply advanced structural engineering principles, static and dynamic mechanics, and BS EN standards to test programmes and assessments.
• Utilise expertise in structural design, fire‑resistant design to BS EN standards, and construction methods in the UK.
• Foster collaboration across teams to ensure efficient project delivery and knowledge sharing.
