Hackney Borough Council seeks a Strategic Lead for Governors to drive governance excellence across Hackney schools. You will lead on governance strategy, risk assessment and training, ensuring boards deliver oversight and compliant performance while fostering inclusive governance.

You will work alongside EIAs, Chairs of Governors and council officers to monitor effectiveness, support schools in difficulty and advance anti-racist, diverse governing boards.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering governance strategies in education or public sector contexts.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks, risk management and statutory duties.
• Ability to design training and guidance for chairs and boards.

Responsabilités

• Lead local governance strategy and ensure boards meet core governance duties.
• Develop and monitor governance risk assessment framework and intervene as needed.
• Provide expert strategic advice on IEBs, MOUs/SLAs, and regulatory compliance.
• Drive anti-racism, diversity initiatives and annual governance conferences.
• Oversee high-quality governor training and briefings aligned with legislation.
