Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Strategic Lead - Channel & Community Protection to chair Lancashire's Channel Panel, guiding safeguarding partnerships and ensuring delivery of prevention strategies. The role requires confident engagement with senior stakeholders and accountability under the Prevent Duty.

The post leads preventative work across education, health, policing and local government, shaping community safety and resilience while driving performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in safeguarding, community safety, policing, public protection, education, local government or a related sector.
• Extensive knowledge of the Prevent Duty, Channel processes and safeguarding legislation.
• Experience chairing complex multi-agency panels and managing high-risk decision making.
• Proven track record of leading change, service improvement and organisational development.

Responsibilities

• Chair and lead Lancashire's Channel Panel, ensuring governance, oversight and delivery of interventions.
• Drive a proactive, preventative approach across safeguarding partnerships to protect vulnerable individuals.
• Provide expert advice, challenge and assurance to senior leaders and partners.
• Lead complex partnership working across local, regional and national agencies to manage strategic risk and governance.
