Job summary

WM Trains Limited seeks a Category Manager - IT to lead strategic procurement across major IT programmes. Based at Head Office in Birmingham, you will manage tendering, contract development and governance to deliver value.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, ensure adherence to the Procurement Act 2023, and support compliant IT procurement strategies while working onsite 3 days per week. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Contract development, tender preparation and end-to-end procurement experience.
• Experience supporting strategic plans in a public sector environment with knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023.
• Procurement expertise to design and deliver compliant IT strategies.

Responsibilities

• Identify suppliers and delivery partners in line with policy and regulations.
• Prepare, negotiate, and amend contracts to meet business needs and commercial obligations.
• Advise stakeholders on best practices to secure quality and maximise value for IT goods and services.
• Act as the main interface with external legal teams on contract-related matters.
• Hold suppliers to account, lead governance-focused stakeholder meetings, and manage tender timelines and bidder communications.
