Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an exceptional leader for the Head of SEND - Statutory, Specialist and Strategic Partnerships role. You will lead on statutory and specialist requirements, working with families, carers and partners to turn plans into reality, while supporting a great working environment for the team.

The post sits within the Education, SEND and Skills directorate, reports to the Director of Education, SEND and Skills, and will coordinate across local and regional levels

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience within SEND and education systems.
• Extensive knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its practical application.
• Experience of co-production with parent carers, partners and voice forums.
• Proven track record of improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for SEND standards, assurance and statutory compliance.
• Oversee high-quality SEND specialist provision across education settings.
• Support SENDCo's and other school leaders in achieving shared priorities.
• Identify, promote and share inclusive practices for targeted interventions.
• Lead co-production with parent carer voice, young people, partners and staff.
• Develop and maintain the Local Area SEND Partnership across services.
• Drive innovation to reduce inequalities and improve life chances.
• Ensure robust performance frameworks to monitor impact.
