Job summary

Freeths is seeking an experienced Head of Learning & Development to lead the L&D function across our UK offices. You will set the strategy, annual plan and budget, and work with Learning Leaders to design and deliver learning that drives growth and capability.

This senior role requires governance, ROI measurement, and the ability to influence at Board and Exec level, while building a strong L&D team and delivering impact across the firm.

Qualifications

• Leading an L&D function or major transformation with strategy and governance.
• Ability to build prioritisation, supplier management and ROI measurement.
• Strong grasp of learning practice and the 70:20:10 framework.
• Experience coaching teams and presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Proven track record influencing at Board/Exec level.

Responsibilities

• Own the L&D strategy, annual plan and budget aligned to the 2030 strategy.
• Establish governance: policies, spend thresholds, risk register and reviews.
• Lead rhythm of the function: Steer Co, Learning Leaders Network and People Team updates.
• Own intake prioritisation and make/ buy framework for learning initiatives.
• Sponsor the Learning Leaders network and drive recognition.
• Develop and manage the L&D team and internal design/delivery capability.
• Report impact against KPIs and reassess L&D maturity regularly.
• Deliver at senior level: leadership development and advisory work with practice groups.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design client-focused training.
