Job summary

Coleg y Cymoedd seeks a Head of Compliance and Data Protection Officer to lead the college's compliance assurance function and act as DPO. You will provide expert advice on regulatory compliance, data protection and information governance across the college, collaborating with senior leaders and the Governing Body to establish robust systems and controls.

The role will focus on DPIAs, policy development, records management, and preparing Medr reporting and assurances, while guiding risk-based

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in law, information governance, compliance or related field.
• Recognised data protection qualification such as BCS Practitioner Certificate, ISEB Data Protection or IAPP CIPP/E, or willingness to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance assurance function as Data Protection Officer.
• Provide independent oversight on regulatory compliance, data protection and information governance.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, Governing Body and colleagues to ensure robust systems, processes and controls.
• Review DPIAs, policies and information storage/records management.
• Identify compliance and data protection risks and implement practical solutions.
• Support Medr reporting and Annual Assurance Return preparation.
• Oversee data protection duties including Subject Access Requests and data breaches.
• Maintain information asset registers and data sharing agreements.
