Job summary

EVEREC is seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance to lead the entire finance function within a growing SME. Reporting to the CEO, you will balance strategic planning with hands-on financial management and partner closely with senior leaders to drive sustainable growth.

The role offers hybrid working with three days on-site in Oxfordshire, a salary up to £65,000 plus benefits, and a clear path to influence finance strategy as the business scales.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Experience leading the finance function within a growing SME.
• Previous experience working in organisations of approximately 20-50 employees.
• Proven experience producing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Strong cash flow management and treasury experience.
• Experience overseeing payroll and statutory compliance.
• Knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial controls.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using finance systems/ERP platforms.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, technology or product-based businesses.
• Exposure to fundraising, investment or private equity-backed environments.
• Experience implementing or improving finance systems and reporting processes.
• Knowledge of inventory or project accounting.
• Experience supporting business growth and organisational change.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end finance function.
• Produce accurate monthly management accounts and board reports.
• Own budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
• Develop financial models and provide commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.
• Establish and maintain effective financial controls, policies and governance.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital.
• Monitor liquidity and optimise cash management.
• Manage banking relationships and payment approvals.
• Ensure the business maintains a strong financial position to support growth.
• Support fundraising activities and investment processes.
• Prepare financial models, investor reporting and due diligence information.
• Assist with business planning and strategic initiatives.
• Work alongside senior leadership on commercial opportunities and growth plans.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Manage the year-end audit process.
• Oversee statutory accounts with external accountants.
