Job summary

SER Limited in Colchester is seeking a Head of Façade Engineering to lead technical delivery, grow a specialist consultancy service and shape the future direction of the practice. The role involves owning projects from initial design through to construction, developing client relationships and guiding a growing team. You will drive quality, compliance and technical leadership, with opportunities to win work and influence strategy.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years experience within façade engineering consultancy.
• Strong track record delivering complex projects across design and construction.
• Experience reviewing technical work and leading or mentoring other engineers.
• Excellent client-facing and project management skills.
• Understanding of façade performance, compliance and building safety regulations.
• Professional membership, with chartered status achieved or actively being pursued.

Responsibilities

• Lead façade engineering projects through all design and construction stages.
• Act as technical authority, overseeing quality assurance and engineering standards.
• Develop, mentoring and supporting engineers across the team.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Support business development, winning new work and expanding the consultancy's market presence.
• Contribute to recruitment, team growth and the wider business strategy.
• Work collaboratively with specialists across fire engineering, acoustics, building physics and building surveying.
