Job summary

Hft is seeking an experienced Senior External Communications & Media Manager to shape its voice, influence and reputation. The role sits in the CEO’s Office and leads external communications, media, digital channels and campaigns to ensure Hft is heard in the conversations that matter, while championing the voices of learning disabled people.

Qualifications

• Significant senior-level experience in communications, media relations or corporate affairs.
• Proven track record in developing and delivering communications strategies.
• Experience advising CEOs and senior leaders on sensitive issues.
• Ability to manage budgets and external agencies.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication, with accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead Hft’s external communications and reputation strategy, aligning activity with organisational priorities.
• Manage national and regional media strategy, securing proactive and reactive coverage and protecting reputation.
• Advise the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Trustees on sensitive/high-profile issues.
• Develop compelling content and campaigns that raise awareness of Hft and its work.
• Oversee digital communications including website, social media and campaign activity.
• Lead crisis communications and reputational risk management, ensuring preparation and effective response.
