Job summary

The University of Manchester is seeking two Principal Architects to shape the architectural direction of a major portfolio of change and transformation. You will influence enterprise-wide initiatives and support delivery through architecture planning, governance and collaboration.

As senior members of the Enterprise and Business Architecture team, you will work with executive sponsors, business leaders and delivery partners to translate strategic objectives into roadmaps and change plans,

Qualifications

• Significant experience in enterprise architecture leadership within a large organisation.
• Strong understanding of business architecture, data, integration, security and infrastructure.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders with evidence-based recommendations.
• Track record of roadmaps, target states and transformation plans.
• Experience with governance, assurance and design decision-making.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Professional certifications such as TOGAF or ArchiMate are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Shape architecture strategy and roadmaps across a UK university value stream.
• Develop and maintain future-state blueprints and transition plans.
• Build partnerships and act as trusted adviser on architectural matters.
• Provide architectural guidance across programmes to align with principles.
• Identify opportunities for simplification and reuse while managing risks.
• Support governance activities and decision-making processes.
• Share insights on emerging technologies for teaching and research.
