Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Lead Engineering Manager in London to lead engineering delivery across strategic programmes and provide technical oversight. You will influence design decisions, drive DevOps and automation practices, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

You will manage end‑to‑end delivery, oversee planning and governance, and mentor teams to ensure high‑quality software solutions aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams, driving performance, accountability, collaboration, and successful delivery outcomes.
• Strong technical background with the ability to contribute to design and architecture discussions, evaluate technical trade-offs, influence engineering decisions, and provide technical leadership without being hands‑on in development.
• Experience managing end‑to‑end engineering delivery, ensuring programmes are delivered efficiently through effective planning, prioritisation, governance, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
• Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
• Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
• Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
• Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high‑quality solutions.
