Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer is seeking an experienced Employee Relations professional to provide expert ER advice, manage complex cases, and develop policies. You will coach managers, lead investigations, and support organizational change within a leading global law firm.

Applicants should have CIPD Level 5+ or equivalent, deep knowledge of UK employment law, and strong communication skills. This is a full-time, on-site role in London with focus on risk management and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in employee relations or employment law in professional services.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Autonomous with ability to advise and train managers.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to leaders on ER matters, including disciplinary and grievance handling.
• Manage complex ER cases end-to-end with legally compliant outcomes.
• Triages ER queries and escalates high-risk matters to senior ER members.
• Lead settlement processes and maintain settlement documentation.
• Develop, update, and document ER policies and guidance materials.
• Conduct internal investigations with reports and hearings attendance.
• Support DSAR workflows and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Coordinate training programmes for managers on ER topics.
• Monitor ER data and provide management information to Head of ER.
• Support organisational change and redundancy programmes with compliance.
