Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL on behalf of a leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an ambitious Design Manager based in South Wales. The role involves coordinating design information from early stages through to completion and supporting delivery across projects in the South West and South Wales.

You will work with consultants, clients, and internal teams to ensure practical, compliant design solutions, review proposals, manage design deadlines, and carry out site visits to monitor buildability and

Qualifications

• Experience in design management within the construction industry and complex projects.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and safety requirements.
• Ability to work with project information, technical documentation and delivery schedules.
• Practical approach to design with on-site delivery focus.
• Analytical mindset to assess issues and devise effective solutions.
• Ability to explain technical matters clearly to project teams and clients.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across teams and with clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design coordination from early project stages through to completion.
• Act as a key point of contact between the design function and wider project team.
• Ensure technical information is delivered accurately and supports construction requirements.
• Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and project standards.
• Review technical proposals and identify potential issues affecting cost, programme or delivery.
• Assist with bringing design consultants and specialists onto projects.
• Coordinate consultant information, deliverables and design deadlines.
• Work with the project team on approvals, technical submissions and design queries.
• Carry out regular site visits to review design implementation and resolve issues.
• Contribute to improving buildability, value and overall project performance.
