Job summary

London Legacy Development Corporation is seeking an Adviser to the Mayor, Communications (News Media), to shape high-profile media coverage for the Mayor of London and the GLA. You will provide strategic media advice, manage press relationships and coordinate with digital teams.

The role requires strong political judgement, excellent briefing skills, and the ability to lead media campaigns across London, national and international outlets, while guiding senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High level knowledge and experience in media management.
• Proven track record coordinating, developing, leading and implementing media and PR activities in a political or complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of media with a broad network of broadcast and print reporters.
• Experience working with senior colleagues across policy and public affairs to deliver communications outcomes.
• Ability to deliver high-quality written and in-person briefings under pressure.
• Knowledge of London issues facing a major world city.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level media and communications advice to the Mayor and Mayoral appointees and GLA teams.
• Develop and utilise a significant network of contacts with key print, broadcast and online journalists.
• Write briefings and Q&As for the Mayor as required.
• Support speechwriting and copy drafting for Mayor and senior team.
• Manage press office activities and resources allocated to the role, in line with policies.
