Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking a Commodity Manager to own a portfolio of commodities across Rolling Stock Manufacturing, Service, and Maintenance. The role covers the full source-to-contract lifecycle, including planning, supplier evaluation, negotiations, contract awards, and ongoing performance management.

You will engage with stakeholders across the business and supply base to drive value, optimise costs, and ensure robust commercial agreements that support operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in commodity management or procurement within manufacturing or service environments.
• Strong supplier negotiation skills and understanding of contract terms.
• Good knowledge of contract law and drafting across products and services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver commodity plans aligned to category strategy.
• Lead sourcing events including RFX and e-auctions.
• Negotiate terms and manage contract lifecycle from award to performance.
• Support ERP/MRP material and vendor set-up across Hitachi Rail entities.
• Lead contract handovers with Manufacturing, Service & Maintenance teams.
• Conduct supplier performance and risk reviews with a focus on cost and capacity.
• Collaborate with Operational Procurement to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
