Job summary

Bluegate Consulting Ltd. is seeking a Commodity Buyer in Wallingford to manage a portfolio of suppliers and ensure timely delivery of materials for production. You will own a specialised commodity group and drive supplier performance, while collaborating with engineering, planning and production teams to optimise costs.

The role emphasises building strong supplier relationships, analysing data, and ensuring accurate ERP records within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing suppliers and procurement activities.
• Experience using an ERP system (SAP advantageous).
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders in line with production requirements.
• Ensure materials are delivered on time to support manufacturing demand.
• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements.
• Maintain supplier data and purchase orders in ERP.
• Keep delivery dates up to date in SAP.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning and production teams.
• Support cost-effective purchasing strategies across your commodity area.
